He has an MA in Existential Psychotherapy and a post-graduate diploma in Counselling, utilising a cognitive behavioural model. Jonathan continues to develop his clinical skills through ongoing professional development opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>He has extensive experience working with individuals and couples in a variety of clinical settings. He has worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in the voluntary, charitable and private sectors, in both day care and residential settings. Jonathan worked for a number of years for the NHS in the Sleep Disorders Centre at St Thomas\u2019 hospital where he was involved in a large research project looking at the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the treatment of insomnia.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan has particular expertise in working with insomnia, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and work-related stress. He also has a reputation for working proactively with couples experiencing relationship difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his work in private practice, Jonathan provided group clinical supervision to drug workers in a number of London prisons, and he co-ordinated a group therapy programme that he designed, to support chaotic drug users in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan was a co-contributor with Prof Simon du Plock on a chapter entitled An Existential Perspective on Addiction for the publication Existential Perspectives in Human Issues, (Palgrave Macmillan 2005).<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan conducts psychotherapy sessions via Skype for a number of overseas clients.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Jonathan Fisher\" href=\"mailto:jonathan.fisher@almapractice.co.uk\">jonathan.fisher@almapractice.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves&#8221; <cite>Viktor Frankl<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MA (PSYCH) GPsyC REG Jonathan has been a psychotherapist and counsellor for more than twenty years.
